Our Mission:

ALS of Utica is dedicated to raising awareness and improving the quality of life of patients battling ALS in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.  ALS of Utica was founded by Sherry DePerno in March of 2003 and is approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  All of the board and committee members are volunteers and receive no money for their time and dedication.  Our primary focus is to improve the quality of life of ALS patient's living in Oneida and Herkimer County, as well as raising money to go towards a cure.  We currently offer annual expense accounts to each of our registered patients to help them with the costly expenses of living with ALS.

In September of 2005, ALS of Utica gave $10,000 toward ALS Research.  The funds were split between two organizations chosen by the Board of Directors.  The first was the Northeast ALS Consortium (NEALS), whose mission is to translate research advances rapidly into clinical trials for patients with ALS.  The second was ALSA (the National ALS Association), whose mission is to find a cure for and improve living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
